FAQs

  • Counselling is an effective tool that helps individuals recalibrate and find balance in their lives. Often it is difficult to know what has been suppressed in the subconscious mind that is causing havoc in other areas of life. By working with a therapist, you can establish your direction and restored confidence and learn tools to manage intense emotions or challenging situations.

  • Try before you buy! So that you feel comfortable with your therapist, Ahava Counselling Services offers a 15-minute free chat for your first session. This will be a general conversation to see who you are working with and what to expect. If you do not think it is what you’re looking for you can choose to end the session after 15 minutes. But if you think it’s helpful, discuss with your therapist your desire to continue with the 1 hour counselling session or book it for another day.

  • All sessions, except for the free 15-minute first counselling session, will be 60 minutes in duration.

  • Upfront credit card payments upfront or an invoice will be sent to you after your first 60-minute counselling session according to your discussed plan.

  • It is courteous to provide a 24 hour notice when canceling your counselling session with your therapist. Please use email or phone communication avenues provided.

  • This will vary from person to person, taking into consideration family history, degree and length of trauma and behavioural patterns, resources and circumstances.

  • No, a referral is not required.

  • At ACS we are not covered by the Medicare Mental Health Care Plan. Unfortunately, most counsellors in Australia are not offered this avenue in better support of their clients.

  • Spiritual abuse is a pervasive and layered act that penetrates the very core of a person. It occurs when a cult, high control group, religious or spiritual organisation uses manipulative tools, under the guise of good intentions, for an agenda the unsuspecting victim is unaware of.

Unfortunately, many counsellors and psychologists do not understand the impact of this type of abuse, but with the right therapist, there is healing and freedom that comes with working through each layer of pain and confusion.
